Here’s a behind-the-scene promo video of Scarlett Lillian’s night shoot in Vegas.  I highly recommend doing a shoot in addition to attending WPPI.  It’s a lot of fun and you learn a lot.

I saw the link to this heartfelt video from Kevin Swan’s blog a couple of weeks ago.  It really struck a chord with me.  Heck, this video is not just for photographers.  It’s for anybody who struggle separating what they  do from who they are.  I have heard others like Dane Sanders and David Jay speak on this issue of identity but it’s one matter to hear it in the abstract and another to actually go through the experience.  I find myself in this “winter season” as Zack has said.  If, like me, you are just starting out in the business then watch this video because Zack speaks from the heart about transformation, identity, and validity.

Chibikko World 2009

This takes place every year for 3 days in early January. Basically, these are giant slides with different themes. You have age restrictions depending on the slide: 5&up, 3-5, and up to 3 years. There’s also an area for riding interesting types of bicycles but the girls are still too young for it. My question is: where were these slides when I was growing up??

Chibikko World 2009

The “Ninja Castle”: Mia said, “Daddy, daddy!! I want to go to this one!” I paid the ticket, waited half an hour in line and when it was Mia’s turn, she promptly went inside for 30 seconds. She went back out and said, “It’s scary!!” I love her…

The “Noah” slide. This was more to Mia’s liking.

Watch your head!

Abby and Mia hand in hand with Hana (far right).

Hana’s parents: Ummm…hello…kids’ event…Japan. Sheesh, get a room already!

Of course, at the end of the day, if you were to ask Hana and Mia what fun giant slide or fun bouncy house they enjoyed the most, they would say, “The area for 2 year olds and under!” Go figure…

Isn’t she adorable?

Abby loves to topple things.

Slide queen.

Watcha looking at?!?

My beautiful honey!

Fall Landscape

Okay, I admit that fall is almost over and these shots are long overdue.  I love people photography but every now and then I like to take shots of nature.  On this cool autumn afternoon, I went to Kawachi with my good buddy, Rocky.  Rocky loves photography as much as I do and it’s fun exchanging ideas to get that nice composition.  I can’t wait to go out shooting with Rocky again in other parts of our beautiful city.

My university

I took quick shots of the university where I teach.  Some of you who live stateside were curious and wanted to know what my work place looks like.  Well, here it is.  The campus is relatively new (8th year) and there is a lot of development still going on.  The campus and the surrounding area are going to look really phenomenal in a couple of years.

Murray family session

My first official shooting session was with the Murray family.  They were kind and gracious enough to let me shoot them for a couple of hours.  It was a fun time and George is an adorable little guy.  Thanks for the opportunity, Murrays!

I know I have a long ways to go but I have to start somewhere, right?  Feel free to leave me a comment about my pics.
